L.A. Eyeworks was founded on September 9, 1979, by Barbara McReynolds and Gai Gherardi with the mission to challenge traditional eyewear norms and create provocative, face-revealing designs. Starting with a single store on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, the brand has since become a global name in optical innovation, with two flagship stores and a wholesale business serving independent opticians worldwide. McReynolds and Gherardi, lifelong friends and trained opticians, design limited-edition frames recognized for their bold shapes, inventive materials, and vibrant colours. Each frame is meticulously crafted, balancing innovation and wearability. Though beloved by celebrities, their ultimate goal is to offer eyewear that reflects individual style rather than trends.
