Stuart Macfarlane

Stuart Macfarlane

After graduating optometry from the Queensland University of Technology, Stuart subsequently obtained a distinction in Ocular Therapeutics from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. In 2004 Stuart was in the inaugural group of Queensland optometrists to complete post-graduate therapeutic certification which allows him to write prescriptions for eye-drops for the treatment of ocular conditions such as allergy, dry eye, uveitis, glaucoma and conjunctivitis. A member of the Contact Lens Society of Australia, until national regulation in 2010 he was a board member of the Optometrists Board of Queensland. Subsequently he was appointed a board panel member of AHPRA. Since 2012 he has been a panel member of the national Professional Services Review (PSR) and was appointed the optometry panel member of the Determining Authority in 2017. He is particularly interested in maintaining your eye health and ensuring the best fit for your eyewear needs.

Geraldine Bendell (Reed)

Geraldine graduated in Optometry at the Queensland University of Technology in 2000. After working in city and rural practices she joined The Eyewear Shop team in 2004. She has been involved in the mentoring program for undergraduate students from QUT and supports the district with community talks on eye-care. After completing therapeutic post-graduate certification in 2007, Geraldine is able to prescribe eyedrops. Her special interests include diseases of the eye, children's vision and contact lenses and she participates in the QLD Children's Hospital (QCH) Eye Clinic's Paediatric Optometry Alignment Pilot Program. She has two school aged children.

Minh Nguyen

Minh Nguyen

Minh graduated with Masters of Optometry from the Queensland University of Technology in 2015. She has volunteered with Indigenous communities in rural Western Australia, with aged care facilities in Hong Kong, and performed cataract assessments with the Australian Health Humanitarian Aid (AHHA) in Cambodia.  Minh is passionate about many disciplines of optometry including dry eye therapy, contact lenses, and children’s vision.  Minh takes a holistic approach to eyecare, catering to her patients for their own unique eye care needs. She participates in the QLD Children’s Hospital Paediatric Optometry Alignment Program and is a CASA Credentialled Optometrist (CO), performing eye medicals for all classes of CASA licences. Minh is therapeutically endorsed to prescribe ophthalmic medicines and has published several articles for optometry magazines. Outside of optometry, Minh is an avid calisthenics and fitness enthusiast, and loves spending time with her friends, family, and her beloved cat. 



After graduating from optometry at QUT in 1989, Helen’s career took her to Perth where she was working in a private practice specialising in contact lens fitting, orthokeratology (ortho-k) and sports vision. Helen is passionate about advocating eye health and has directed national education programs, lectured internationally, and authored several articles on various topics relating to eye health and vision. Helen returned to Brisbane in 2013 where she now balances her time between delivering optometry training programs and clinical practice. Helen is therapeutically endorsed to prescribe eye drops and takes her time to listen and tailor optometric care and solutions to her patients. As well as being our sports optometry and contact lens specialist, Helen especially loves fashion and cannot resist helping pair people with frames they will love. 



Stacy is our eyewear styling guru. She graduated from The University of Wyoming and has been working in the optical industry since 1998. She worked in both corporate and private optometry in America before moving with her family to Australia in 2007. She has extensive industry knowledge and is passionate about helping people find that special pair of eyewear.



Originally from Victoria, Shirley has many years of optical styling and dispensing. She loves to provide an excellent customer experience and to help people find functional and stylish frames they love.



Emma holds together the fort in all aspects such as frame styling, hand selecting eyewear, and management. Emma is heavily involved in styling and eyewear selection keeping our range diversely interesting and unique.


Olympia is one of our super stylist optical dispensers. With over 8 years of working with international and local fashion brands, she found her true passion in optics and frame styling. Olympia loves matching the perfect pair of frames to compliment every style and personality.
